So you're sitting at your desk working away on your computer, when all of the sudden you go to load a website and you the message "Check Your Connection". Great! Now if you just knew how to check your connection, you'd be all set. Let's see if we can remedy that.
The first thing you'll want to do as to check that your computer is connected to your network router and that your router is turned on. A router is the box that's basically the pipeline that opens you up to the Internet. There are basically two ways to check and they depend on whether you have a physical connection to your router, or if you're using your wireless internet (or "WiFi") connection.
If your router is turned on and If you're using a physical cable from the back of your computer to connect to your router, make sure that the cable going from the computer is also plugged into the router. It might help to disconnect the cable and plug it back in to the same port you unplugged it from. If that does not work, try moving the cable to a different port on the router.
If you're connected via WiFi, you can simply look in the lower right hand corner of your Windows computer and look for the 5 bars. If you see the 5 bars and there's a little star icon ("*") in the middle then something is up with your computer's WiFi connection to your router.
If all of your connections from your router to your computer look good, then the next thing you'll want to do is check the status of the "Internet" or "DSL" port on your router. You should typically see a little green light over letters "DSL" of "Internet", or something of the like. If the light is yellow, then you likely have an issue with your Internet service provider.
If all lights are green and you still don't have Internet connection, then simply restart your computer and see if that resolves the issue. If you've checked all these things and you've restarted your computer and you still don't have Internet, give Infinigen Technology Solutions a call and one of our knowledgeable, friendly technicians will come take a look at it for you.
